Google Nexus 4 In Kuwait – Review 34

If you are after an Android smartphone, it’s hard to find reasons not to buy a Google Nexus 4 in Kuwait, but some nagging doubts linger after the LG Optimus G review, where not everything turned out all roses and sunshine. Having spent some time with the Google Nexus 4 in Kuwait, here’s what we think are the headline features and what could’ve been better.

Key Features

  • Flagship specs at a bargain
  • Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support
  • Penta-band 3G with DC-HSPA, up to 42Mbps downlink, HSUPA up to 5.76Mbps uplink
  • 4.7″ 16M-color WXGA True HD IPS Plus (768 x 1280 pixels) capacitive touchscreen, Gorilla Glass 2
  • Stock Android OS v4.2 Jelly Bean, fast updates
  • Quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait CPU, 2 GB RAM, Adreno 320 GPU, Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset
  • 8 MP autofocus camera with LED flash and geotagging, face detection, Photo Spheres
  • 1080p video recording @ 30fps with continuous autofocus and stereo sound
  • 1.3 MP front-facing camera, 720p video recording
  • Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct and DLNA
  • GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS
  • 8/16GB of built-in storage
  • microUSB port with TV-out support
  • Bluetooth v4.0
  • Standard 3.5 mm audio jack
  • Voice dialing
  • Accelerometer and proximity sensor
  • Active noise cancellation with dedicated mic
  • 2100mAh battery
  • Wireless charging (works with any Qi-compatible wireless charger)

Main Disadvantages

  • No microSD card slot, no versions with more storage
  • Mediocre display sunlight legibility
  • Non user-replaceable battery
  • Camera is less than stellar, no shutter key either

Some of Google’s own partners might be upset by a strategy they clearly cannot afford, but that’s hardly the point here. What matters is that it’s a win-win for customers and has turned the Google Nexus 4 into an offer that’s near impossible to beat. A fast-track pass to future Android updates only comes to sweeten up an already great deal.

Is the google nexus 4 available in kuwait? Where can i buy? what is the price for 16GB?

    Dear Asham,

You say that you are sold out of Nexus 4, while i asked the distributer who told me it will be launched end of January in Infoconnect in Mishrif, Excite and Viva have the exclusivity, so i wonder the devices you are selling is original with Arabic and waranty, as the ones sold online has no Arabic language inbeded.

    Br,
    Zizo.

      Dear Zizo,
First of thank you for visiting our blog. Yes, we are sold out of the LG Nexus 4 stock at the moment but we are getting some more in the next week. Yes the stock we sold was US version with no Arabic keypad, but having said that, it was brand new, unlocked, and definitely original and the beauty of Android is that you can have as many languages as you like.

You can either wait for at the end of the month or get the brand new LG Nexus 4 16GB from Mr. Babu next week (US Version) with a free screen protector.

    Hi Asham,

As you know Arabic is very important for us, therefore i wonder if the coming stock to you will have Arabic support? does the device have waranty?

    Thanx

      Hi Zizo,
As I have said, It won’t have Official Keypad but android Jelly Bean support many languages including Arabic and it is part of the Official Software. The Arabic Keypad can be downloaded freely from the Play Store. I also own an Android device (Note II) so I’m telling you from my experience.
As for the warranty, it is covered by official LG standard warranty.
      Hope that helps my friend.

    Hi Zizo,

As Asham mentioned, after jelly bean, android supports the arabic language by default, hence you will be always using the official Arabic support (Interface; menu and keypad). it is not like before anymore where we had to worry about the middle east region devices to have an official arabic support.

Asham, How much it would cost me ? And when it is expected to be in your stock?

    Thanks

    • Asham Reply Asham Jan 13, 2013 1:59 pm

      Hi Obad,
Thank you for dropping by. It would cost you KD 180 in total and we’ll be giving away high quality Screen Protector worth KD 2 with all Nexus 4 handsets. The phones are in Kuwait and actually arrived here on last Thursday but need Customs clearance which could be today or tomorrow.
I will update the stock and on the blog as soon as we get our hands on them.
      Regards

Whats the price of 16GB and 8 GB models?
What models do you have in stock? If not, by when will it be stocked again ?
    Thanks

    • Asham Reply Asham Jan 21, 2013 10:10 am

      Hi Neville,

We got only 1 piece left for Nexus 4 16 GB and that will be delivered today if you order before 12 pm. All the phones we deliver come with free screen protector. Nexus 4 16 GB is for KD 175 and you can choose to pay on delivery.

At the moment we don’t have any 8 GB model in our hands but you can check on our store for imported phones.

Many Thanks for the replay , but i jus didnt get the time to look again. Is it still in stock and how do i order for it and pay for it??

  8. Asham Reply Asham Jan 24, 2013 2:48 pm

    Hi Neville,

I’m sorry to hear that. Unfortunately we are again sold out of all the stock in hand. You can still be able to order the imported stock which will arrive in 7-14 working days HERE

We accept KNET, Paypal and Cash on delivery.

    • Reply Neville Nagesh Jan 25, 2013 3:50 pm

Dint find it.. could you direct me to the 175 KD 16gb version

      • Asham Reply Asham Jan 25, 2013 5:19 pm

        Hi Neville,

You won’t find it because the demand is very high for Nexus 4 and most of the stores selling Nexus 4 Like Mr. Babu are all sold out. The stock was poorly managed by Google itself. We are also trying to source more stock.

Unfortunately, you will have to go for the more expensive option (imported stock) or wait for a week.

    Hi Asham,

I made an order on (Jan 23, 2013) and on the website it says my order status is processed does that mean my order is complete in that case how can i know my order arrival date.

Asham.. Has mrbabu re-stocked on the Nexus 4 16GB??

    • Asham Reply Asham Jan 29, 2013 9:31 am

      Hi Neville,

Believe me I’ve been trying my best to source more than 15 units altogether. I guess if members here show some kind of interest like if they are after 8GB or 16GB then We will try to source specific quantities of those versions.

  11. Reply Neville Nagesh Jan 29, 2013 2:14 pm

My needs are evident. Although a time frame or even a heads up would be amazing :)

    hi asham,
do you still guys sell the nexus 4 and if yes how can i get one
    thank you

  13. Reply Consumer Feb 18, 2013 8:23 am

    Hello,
I would like to buy one, but why is it overpriced like this? it was intended to sell for ~300$

Your price is double the real price. Seriously it is a shame to take advantage of people not knowing how to order the phone from google and charging them the double price.

    • Asham Reply Asham Feb 18, 2013 11:29 am

      Dear Consumer,

Thank you for your comment. Well that price is ONLY for a US citizen and limited to buy just one piece and that too was sold out pretty quickly. We got our stock from reputable suppliers from the US and sold out twice in the last month.

If you know someone selling it for $300 then please forward me the link I’d love to get some more stock in hand and sell it for a lot cheaper to some of our subscribers.

      Thank you for your time.

    Dear Asham,

Sorry to bother you again but Mr.Asham are the screen protectors locally available or I have do you have to get them imported. If you have a screen protector that is locally available and that I don’t have to wait for it,Please direct me to it.Thank you once again.

  16. Reply Avil Jun 2, 2013 11:41 am
